The Alchemy of Paint
Aged five, I bought my first tin of watercolours for a penny from the church jumble sale. There began my fascination with paint and the alchemy of painting. Although I have produced many paintings since that first swirl of the brush into the colour pan, the wonder of being able to create another reality within a frame with just paint, a brush and a canvas, has never left me. My intention is not to paint a photographic facsimile of a landscape, a person, an animal. I want to impart my love of the texture and properties of paint so that your eye sees the brushstrokes even as it accepts the imaginary world created in front of it.
